We hope you are keeping well. Eye Health Aotearoa has been busy with several important initiatives since our last update.

Parliamentary Friends of Eye Health event

On 7 October Eye Health Aotearoa (EHA) hosted a highly successful event at Parliament. During the day, 164 Parliamentary staff members and MPs received free vision screening provided by Specsavers – an excellent turnout that generated strong interest in eye health.

In the evening EHA and the Parliamentary Friends of Eye Health (PFEH), hosted a function highlighting the importance of early detection and timely treatment.

Speakers included Sam Uffindell MP, Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall MP, Dr Justin Mora, Bronwyn Anderson and Brandon Ah Tong.

Annual Awareness Campaign

This year’s campaign promoted our message: “Book your eye check today!”

Key activities included:

• Large outdoor billboards in six main centres
• Refreshed posters in English, Māori, Samoan and Mandarin
• Poster packs and an animated video for 1,200 schools and aligned organisations
• Five bilingual TikTok videos launching in December.
